U.S. Warns Iran to Back Down, and what do you expect them to do?

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) – A second U.S. aircraft carrier strike group now steaming toward the Middle East is Washington’s way of warning Iran to back down in its attempts to dominate the region, a top U.S. diplomat said here Tuesday. Nicholas Burns, U.S. undersecretary of state for political affairs, ruled out direct negotiations with Iran and said a rapprochement between Washington and Tehran was “not possible” until Iran halts uranium enrichment.

U.S. Warns Iran to Back Down

If I remember correctly, this is exactly how the ‘dust up’ in Iraq got started, “Don’t do it or we’re gonna…..” whatever the hell the threat was, oh yeah, those WMDs that haven’t been found yet, one big difference in going after Iran though, at least in MY opinion, Iran ATTACKED the USA, when they attacked our embassy and held our people, that was an attack, and we never went in for ‘pay back’… Uh…. What was it exactly that Saddam attacked?? Kinda strange if you ask me, Iran DID attack us and a Dem President did nothing, Somalia killed U.S. troops and drug the bodies thru the street as they desecrated them and a Dem President did nothing, Saddam didn’t kill or attack ANYTHING American and look at where we are now… But IF Bush has the BALLS to take on Iran, I am all for it…

WASHINGTON (AP) – The Army general who would carry out President Bush’s troop buildup in Iraq urged patience Tuesday and predicted “tough days” ahead. “None of this will be rapid,” Lt. Gen. David Petraeus told the Senate Armed Services Committee. “The way ahead will be neither quick nor easy.”

Petraeus Sees Tough Time for Troop Surge

Gen. Petraeus is correct, it won’t be quick or easy, but I say again, sending an additional 21K troops into Iraq for this ’surge’ is nothing more than an act of political desperation on the part of a President that has all but bottomed out in the polls, it’s a “Well, I tried” move… IF President Bush still has ANY lingering thoughts of snatching a victory from this debacle, it MUST be done with a greatly overwhelming force and a decisive and STUNNING move, one that leaves no doubt in ANY mind that he means business, and I just don’t see that happening…

FOX News – An American GI assigned to one of the harshest posts in Iraq had a simple request last week for a Wisconsin mattress company: send some floor mats to help ease the hardship of sleeping on the cold, bug-infested ground. What he got, instead, was a swift kick from the company’s Web site, which not only refused the request but added insult to injury with the admonition, “If you were sensible, you and your troops would pull out of Iraq.”

I am proud to say, I was a part of the attack on this company for their response to this young troop that was only trying to make life a bit easier on himself and his fellow troops, and I want to thank ALL the other wonderful bloggers and readers that participated in this call to action… You see, while I STILL don’t give a DAMN about the Iraqis, I can support our troops, because they are only following their orders, stick THAT up your brainwashed ‘Bush Bot’…

ATLANTA (AP) – Americans flying to Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean made sure to bring their passports Monday because of a new rule going into effect Tuesday that requires them to show one to get back into the country. Only about a quarter of U.S. citizens hold valid passports, and most Americans are accustomed to traveling to neighboring countries with just a driver’s license or birth certificate, which have long been sufficient to get through airport customs on the trip home.

New Passport Rules to Go Into Effect

Times have changed, and we are going to have to change WITH those times, America IS under attack, and we haven’t seen the last attack on American soil I am afraid, if this move can stop so much as 1 terrorist from coming into America then it’s a minor inconvenience at worst… As long as we have people checking incoming passengers that are actually smart enough and well trained and are capable of spotting fakes…
